Green Infrastructure and SUDS Planning & Training

Whether defined as Green Infrastructure (GI), Sustainable Urban Drainage (SuDs), Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD), Low Impact Development (LID), or Nature Based Solutions (NBS), these practices provide environmental, social, and economic benefits for communities.

Design with maintenance in mind, then timely inspect and maintain the systems.

At Water365, we have significant experience:

  • working with engineers and landscape architects to design GI with future maintenance in mind,

  • developing GI maintenance manuals and schedules,

  • training maintenance workers to properly inspect and maintain GI systems,

  • helping municipalities audit and amend local codes and ordinances to overcome barriers to GI in existing regulations, and

  • procuring grants and other funding for GI design and construction.

The National Green Infrastructure Certification Program (NGICP) is the standard for certification of green infrastructure (GI) construction, inspection, and maintenance workers. Linda Reid, Water365’s Principal, is a credentialed NGICP/IGICP trainer.

Whether you’re interested is using the NGICP as a workforce development program to engage the chronically un- and under-employed and provide them with a path to a livable wage in the green economy or you’re seeking to train your own staff/contractors to properly inspect and maintain GI, Water365 can help. We will work with you to design and deliver a green infrastructure training program that suits your organization’s unique needs.
